Selection Committee & Nomination Deadline

The all-university Syracuse University Scholars Selection Committee (SUSSC) includes faculty representatives from each undergraduate school or college. The usual expectation for appointments to the committee is a three-year term, with the possibility of a one year extension. New members are recommended by the dean of each college and are appointed by the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs. The chair of the SUSSC shall be appointed from among first and second year members of the committee to serve as chair for a two year term.

The Associate Provost for Academic Affairs contacts the dean’s office of each eligible school or college in the spring to confirm continuing memberships or request the appointment of new members for the following academic year.

For 2023-24 the chair of the SUSSC is:

Sean Drake, Assistant Professor, Sociology, sjdrake@syr.edu

Questions concerning the university-wide selection process for Syracuse University Scholars can be directed to the chair of the selection committee or to Jolynn Parker, Center for Fellowship and Scholarship Advising (jmpark02@syr.edu; 315.443.2091).

The deadline for schools and colleges to submit nominations to the SUSSC is the first Friday of classes in the spring semester.

School/college contacts should send their nominees' portfolios by email to Jolynn Parker at jmpark02@syr.edu.
