Fulbright Hint #2 – 2015
This is the 2nd Hints Email:
• If you haven’t already done so – Start Your Application!
• Once you’ve registered as a Fulbright Applicant, read through the entire application and begin writing and gathering the materials that you need.
• If you need an institutional affiliation commitment letter (full research proposals) – start making your contacts immediately.
• IIE, the organization that administers the Fulbright, offers In-person Open Guidance Sessions in NYC and at their regional centers, as well as On-line Webnairs for applicants. To find out about the topics and dates of both the in-person and the on-line support offered by IIE, go to their website at: http://us.fulbrightonline.org/fulbright-us-student-program and look for “application tips” and “information sessions” under the “applicants” tab.

• Start writing your essays. Here is some questions and thoughts to will help you to write your Personal Statement Essay.
o What is the main insight that you want the reader to take away from this essay?
o What is your story? What led you to this place?
o Why are you ideally suited to do this? Why this country?
o What is the next step in your life? What are your goals?
o This is not a narrative resume; make it interesting and a pleasure to read. The reader should want to know you / know more about you when s/he finishes reading this essay.
• Remember that the SU deadline for all Fulbright US Student Award applicants is September 15th. Your letters of recommendation will be due then too – however, I will obtain those from the on-line site.
