Assistant Professor Teng Zeng

Teng Zeng, Assistant Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering, was selected as the Center for Fellowship and Scholarship Advising's Mentor of the Year for 2022.

Each year CFSA solicits nominations for Mentor of the Year from students and alumni who have applied for national fellowships and scholarships during the previous year. This award recognizes Dr. Zeng's exemplary dedication to his students and his support of their pursuit of nationally competitive scholarships.

Dr. Zeng was nominated by senior MP Geiss, who worked with CFSA this year to apply for summer research experiences through the National Science Foundation. In his nomination form, MP expressed gratitude for Dr. Zeng's support of his pursuit of internal and external awards. As he put it, “Dr. Zeng is dedicated to his students and is a great teacher who has prioritized empowering undergraduate engagement for years.” MP particularly praised Dr. Zeng's efforts to support undergraduate research in his lab—efforts that have also been pivotal to the success of previous national award recipients, including Anna Feldman (2019 NOAA Hollings Scholar, 2020 Udall Scholar) and Bethany Murphy (2018 NOAA Hollings Scholar, 2019 Udall Scholar, 2020 Marshall Scholar).

Dr. Zeng was recognized for this award at the 2022 CFSA Recognition event on May 5th at the Chancellor’s House. Dr. Zeng's name will also be engraved on CFSA’s Mentor of the Year plaque, which hangs outside the CFSA office in 306 Bowne Hall.

Congratulations, Dr. Zeng!
