New Scholarship Opportunity: The Saint Andrew’s Society Scholarship

St. Andrew's Society of the State of New York

The Saint Andrew’s Society of the State of New York offers a distinctive graduate study opportunity to students with Scottish heritage: one year of graduate study in Scotland, commencing in the fall of 2017.. The scholarship is open to residents of the state of New York, or students who attend college in the state of New York. To be eligible, a student must be a senior undergraduate who will obtain a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the spring of 2017 and can demonstrate the significance of studying in Scotland. While an applicant does not need to be a first or second generation Scottish-American, they must be able to prove they have some Scottish heritage. The Saint Andrew’s Society has granted over 185 scholarships since the inception of the program in 1956. This year they will be awarding two $30,000 scholarships to fund graduate study in Scotland.

Every candidate is thoroughly evaluated by the Saint Andrew’s Society Scholarship Committee. Their goal is to provide scholarships to applicants from a variety of schools in order to foster an interest in Scotland and its academic institutions among a broad array of colleges and universities in this country.

Syracuse University endorses one graduating senior of Scottish descent for this opportunity. The internal deadline for applying through Syracuse University is December 1st.
